The process of painting is a tool – it is a practice that seeks to discover something unknown. By filtering the world, first through my own perception, then through the particular medium, I hope to reveal something universal and strangely familiar – like a dream you forgot you had. I’m concerned with finding a sense of solidity in a uniquely skewed world, to readjust reality in a way that is unique to painting and primary to my own being. By utilizing the poetics of color, composition, surface, and subject, combined with the tenacity of action, I aim to produce something that resonates just below the conscious mind.
