Aba Diop & the Yermande Family

Join us at Kings Oaks for a celebratory and uplifting concert with a powerhouse ensemble of artists and global collaborators lead by master sabar percussionist Aba Diop.

6pm, Sunday, September 28, 2025
Kings Oaks

Aba Diop & the Yermande Family bring rhythm as medicine. Led by master griot percussionist, Aba Diop, their concerts center sabar—drums traditionally used for healing, celebration, and spiritual connection. Rooted in Senegalese rhythm and call-and-response tradition, the music blends polyrhythmic percussion, improvisational guitar, microtonal melodies, and soaring voice. The overall effect is deeply mystical, uplifting, and undeniably dance worthy.

Sō Percussion and Caroline Shaw

August 23, 2024 at The Zlock Performing Arts Center at Bucks County Community College
In partnership with the Bucks County Community College Zlock Performing Arts Center, Kings Oaks hosted Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw and innovative Sō Percussion for a residency culminating in a live performance at the Newtown campus.

Shaw and Sō’s electrifying program blends voice and percussion quartet as they share the music from their newest album ‘Rectangles and Circumstance‘. Co-written by Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion, the genre-blending songs use verses from nineteenth-century poems by Christina Rosetti, Emily Bronte, Emily Dickinson, Gertrude Stein, and William Blake. Chamber music meets singer-songwriter storytelling in this extraordinary performance showcasing vital, expressive, and imaginative music-making.

The Crossing at Kings Oaks – Walking the Farm: A Progressive Concert

September 17-18, 2022

Based on the “progressive dinner” model, this concert takes us to five stations around bucolic Kings Oaks Farm: the barn, the creek, the old chapel, the field, the garden. At each, we commune, sharing locally sourced bites, local beers and wines, and a choral work inspired by land and our relationship to it. A new work from George Lewis is joined by previous commissions of Kirsten Broberg and David Shapiro and a thoughtful setting of a Czeslaw Milosz poem by Latvian Peteris Vasks. Conducted by Donald Nally. Learn more and See photos
