James Morse (b. 1982, Hinsdale, Illinois, USA) lives and works in Northport, Michigan. Walking, canoeing, and swimming within the coastal landscape of the rural peninsula where he lives is fundamental to his painting practice. It is a practice that emphasizes being in, and interacting directly with, the rural landscape. He received a BA in philosophy from Hope College (Holland, MI), and studied at Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, CA) and Columbia College (Chicago, IL).
Recent solo and group shows include exhibitions at Cob Gallery (London, UK); James Cohan
